Subjects and ideas

I always seem to photograph the same things when I'm hanging out around the house...the back garden, the view from the study window (it's gorgeous)...the cat...the hubby. I decided it was time to set myself a challenge, so I got a pack of Post-It notes and set about writing a different subject on each note. Now when I have time to photograph something, I just pick one of the notes at random and go photograph something with that theme.

Some of the themes I used were:
  • Something you can't do without
  • Something you dislike
  • Blue
  • Slow
  • Fast
  • Warm
  • Reassuring
  • ant's eye view
  • birds eye view
  • machinery
  • textured
  • fake
  • hobbies
  • food
Other ideas submitted by readers:
  • worthless
  • in bloom
  • old
  • excitement
Anybody else have any good ones I can add to my list?

I was wondering about doing a weekly challenge  - setting a theme and then having people work on that theme and submit their images by linking up via McLinky. Would anyone be interested in that? I'd love to pick up photography again and a challenge with some like-minded people would give me something small and achievable that I can focus on.
